Some privacy laws, including the Washington My Health My Data Act and Nevada SB 370, treat information about a person's physical or mental health as consumer health data and require a separate policy describing how it is handled.
This policy explains how Path collects, uses, shares, and deletes consumer health data. It applies in addition to our Privacy Policy.
Path is a journaling and reflection app. It is not a healthcare provider, health plan, or medical record system, and it is not covered by HIPAA.
Onboarding answers about how many hours you sleep, your diet, how physically active you are, how your mental health has felt recently, and which area of your health you would most like to improve.
Anything you choose to write in journal entries, chat messages, or voice input that relates to physical or mental health, symptoms, treatment, medication, diagnosis, disability, pregnancy, reproductive or sexual health, gender identity, substance use, or similar topics.
Inferences Path generates from that content, such as summaries, insights, memories, recaps, life-state notes, predictions, and compatibility scores.
Path does not collect precise location, biometric identifiers, health data from HealthKit or other health apps, or data about your visits to healthcare providers.
Directly from you, when you answer onboarding questions, journal, chat, or record voice input.
From Path itself, when our features generate summaries, insights, or scores from what you have written.
We do not buy consumer health data or obtain it from data brokers, advertising networks, or public records.
To provide the journaling, chat, reflection, recap, prediction, memory, and compatibility features you ask for.
To personalize what Path shows you based on your own entries and answers.
To operate, secure, debug, and support the service, and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not use consumer health data for advertising, profiling for advertising, or any purpose unrelated to running Path.
Supabase, which provides our authentication, database, file storage, server hosting, and Edge Functions. Consumer health data is stored in that infrastructure.
OpenAI, which processes prompts, journal content, onboarding answers, and voice audio to generate transcripts, entries, summaries, insights, images, and scores.
Service providers we use for email, support, server logging, or debugging, only as needed to run and support Path.
Government or legal authorities, if we are legally required to disclose information or need to protect Path or others.
We do not share consumer health data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or social networks. Connected friends never see your health content or the text behind a compatibility score.
Path does not sell consumer health data, and we do not exchange it for anything of value.
Selling consumer health data would require your separate, signed authorization. We do not ask for that authorization because we do not sell it.
We collect and share consumer health data only as needed to provide the features you request, or with your consent.
You choose whether to answer health-related onboarding questions, what to write in your journal and chat, and whether to use voice input.
You can withdraw consent at any time by stopping use of those features, deleting the relevant entries, or deleting your account. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already happened.
You can ask us to confirm whether we process your consumer health data, to tell you which third parties have received it, to give you a copy, and to delete it.
You can delete your account from Account Details, which is intended to permanently delete your account and associated user-owned app data.
Deletion may not immediately remove information from encrypted backups, server logs, or systems that have already processed it. We will delete from those systems as they are refreshed or as our providers allow.
Email alvin@pathjournal.app from the address on your Path account and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to verify your identity first.
We aim to respond within 45 days and will let you know if we need more time.
If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response or emailing alvin@pathjournal.app with the word Appeal in the subject line. If we deny the appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
We will not deny you service or charge you differently for exercising these rights.
If we change how we handle consumer health data, we will update this policy and its effective date, and we will not apply material changes to previously collected data without your consent where the law requires it.
Questions can be sent to alvin@pathjournal.app.
